2 people are dead after a shooting at a senior living facility in Maryland

Two women were killed in a shooting at a senior living facility outside of Washington, DC, on Friday, police said.
Prince George's County Police said on Twitter that a suspect has been taken into custody following a shooting at Gateway Village National Church Residences in Capitol Heights, Maryland.
National Church Residences' management said in a statement to NBC Washington that the two victims of the shooting were employees at the facility.
Officers were first called to the senior care facility at 9:10 a.m. on Friday, and arrived at 9:14 a.m., Capitol Heights and Prince George's County Police said at a press conference.
Police said the suspect had barricaded himself inside the facility, and was apprehended shorty after officers arrived on scene.
Further details about the victims' and suspect's identities, as well as what led to the shooting, remain unclear, and a police investigation is ongoing.
"We are extremely heartbroken by the events that occurred this morning at our affordable housing property Gateway Village, in Capitol Heights, Maryland. We are proud of the heroic and swift actions of our staff to ensure that our residents were protected and kept safe," National Church Residences said in its statement to NBC Washington. "Our hearts go out to the families of our two team members who lost their lives in this tragic and unfortunate incident."
Police told ABC News that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
