Celebrities who have donated money amid the coronavirus pandemic

Alves told the "Today" show that she spent weeks trying to figure out where to source masks from before working with BStrong. In addition, the couple donated and personally delivered supplies to people in their home city of Austin.

McConaughey also hosted a virtual bingo night for senior home residents, released PSAs, and showed fans how to make masks using household items.

Carey, who's from NY, said that she was giving money to NewYork-Presbyterian and the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

The "Live With Kelly and Ryan" cohost splits his time between the two destinations.

"New York and Los Angeles are very special places to me and so I wanted to do something in the immediate to give back in these unprecedented times," Seacrest told People.

He went on to tell the publication that he was motivated to donate after learning that first responders in NY were sleeping in cars to avoid spreading germs to their families.

According to People, a portion of Seacrest's donation will go toward housing and food for first responders.

According to People, Bryan Randall (Bullock's boyfriend) posted a photo on his private Instagram of himself and the actress standing with the boxes of masks. Randall said that Bullock's kids, Louis and Laila, came up with the idea to donate masks.

According to Deadline, the couple donated $250,000 each to The Motion Picture and Television (Clooney is a board member), the SAG-AFTRA FUND, and Los Angeles Mayors Fund.

They also reportedly donated $300,000 to Lebanese Food Bank, Lombardo Italy Region, and the NHS.

"Today we are sending out $4 million, splitting it equally among animal relief because all of the shelters are so full and there are so many animals suffering right now," Ray told BuzzFeed. "And of course human relief, especially seniors and low-income or communities that have very weak infrastructure, getting food out to them."

The singer shared a lengthy message on Instagram and expressed her gratitude for "the medical workers on the frontlines."

She also acknowledged her privilege and said that she got the masks with the help of Orange International Inc. The items will be given to staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Providence Saint Joseph, LAC+USC Medical Center, and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital.

Halsey went on to say that she'll be making "a sizable donation" to GiveDirectly.

Perry, who's expecting her first child with Orlando Bloom, said the money will "assist their efforts in providing essential items to children and families impacted by COVID-19."

John said the goal of the fund is "to make sure that our frontline partners can respond to the effects of COVID-19 on HIV care for the most marginalized communities around the world."

Leto has been watching movies while self-isolating and said he designed the shirt after requests from fans. The shirt reads, "May the forced quarantine be with you" and costs $30. The actor said he'll personally match all the money raised.

Although play has been suspended during the pandemic, the MLB is still sending paychecks to athletes. Verlander said that his paychecks will contribute toward relief efforts.

"Everyone around the world is affected by this virus, and we hope to contribute to the families and jobs affected, the healthcare workers and first responders on the front lines and the many others in need of basic necessities, medical supplies, and support at home," he wrote on Instagram.

Verlander continued: "As soon as the first paycheck is received we will be highlighting the first organization. We know everyone is impacted by this crisis, but for those who are able, we encourage you to stay home to help flatten the curve and look to those around you who need a helping hand."

The T-shirt, which costs $26, reads, "Stay home. Stay Safe. Protect each other" on the front. The back of the garment says: "This shirt fights COVID-19. Treat people with kindness."

"This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends, and our communities" the singer wrote in a lengthy Instagram post.

Pink went on to say that she's donating $500,000 to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia in honor of her mom, who worked there for 18 years.

She also pledged the same amount to the City of Los Angeles Mayor's Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.

During a virtual interview with Jimmy Fallon, the actress said people shouldn't have to "choose between diapers and a meal."

"We've donated 3 million diapers, 20,000 wipes, 20,000 personal care products," she said. "That is the No. 1 need for families right now who are living in poverty but also families who are out of work."

"I'm joining the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation effort to find a drug that will prevent or treat COVID-19. We need this to protect our health workers, the most vulnerable, and all of our friends and families," the entertainer wrote on her website.

Madonna went on to say that she's "impressed" by the strides made by the foundation to find a cure for the virus.

"I send enormous gratitude and strength to the courageous first responders, medical professionals and scientists who are protecting our communities, those suffering and our most vulnerable," she added.

The group launched the Fall Out Boy Fund in 2017 as a way to give back to Chicago, the city where band was formed.

"The money will help support the local food banks, direct monetary support for those who have suffered loss of income & jobs as a result of COVID-19 & much more," the band tweeted in early April.

In a statement, Witherspoon said that she "wanted to show teachers a little extra love right now."

From April 2 to April 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET, teachers can sign up via a Google Form and eligible people will receive an email from the Draper James team on how to receive their complimentary dress.

Gaga revealed her donation on Twitter and wrote: "Thankful for my friends @leodicaprio @laurenepowell and @apple for putting this together."

"I believe that America's Food Fund will be a powerful way to make a difference for our neighbors in need and am committing $1 million to this fund to support those facing food insecurity," Winfrey wrote on Instagram.

The star added that she's donating $10 million overall to help people throughout the US.

America's Food Fund was also created with Apple and the Ford Foundation to provide food for children, low-income families, elderly, and others in need.

Two organizations, World Central Kitchen and Feeding America, have been named as the first beneficiaries.

"In the face of this crisis, organizations like World Central Kitchen and Feeding America have inspired us all with their unwavering commitment to feed the most vulnerable people in need," DiCaprio said in a statement shared by the Associated Press. "I thank them for their tireless work on the frontlines, they deserve all of our support."

The Oscar-winning actor and Powell Jobs donated a combined total of $5 million, Apple gave the same amount, and Ford Foundation donated $1 million.

The donation contributed to a partnership between Wheels Up and Feeding America, which Russell Wilson also contributed to.

"We are grateful to come together, even when we are apart," Lopez wrote on Twitter.

Lauv shared the news with fans on Twitter in March.

PIH is one of many organizations chipping in to help relief efforts.

TMZ reported that the donation was intended for medics and workers in her home state who have been working constantly.

Cardi B also teamed up with Fashion Nova to launch a new initiative called Fashion Nova Cares with Cardi B, in which they pledged give away $1,000 dollars every hour until May 20, 2020 to people in need.

The singer's donation will reportedly go toward purchasing ventilators, which many patients with the virus are in need of.

The company revealed the donation on social media.

"Our six-month anniversary has fallen in the middle of a global crisis so more than ever, it's our responsibility to give back and do what we can to help others," the reality TV star said in a statement shared by ABC.

The country music star gave money to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

"My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who's been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure," Parton tweeted.

"I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations," she added.

The shirts were designed by artists Sivan found through Instagram and cost $30. The "Take Yourself Home" singer said that the money will go to the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and Spotify's Covid-19 Music Relief project.

The Grammy-winning singer sent food to the staff at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Henry Ford Hospital, and M Health Fairview.

Lizzo also gave a shoutout to the "heroes" on Instagram by sharing photos of the employees who benefitted from her donations.

Lovato said that she hesitated about whether or not now is the appropriate time to release the collection, but said that it shouldn't be delayed because the message "has always been about channeling your inner strength."

The new line launches on April 2 and Fabletics will donate $5 from every item sold to "provide gear to frontline workers" with a pledge of up to $125,000 through June 30.

The couple donated to Unicef, Feeding America, Goonj, Doctors Without Borders, No Kid Hungry, GiveIndia, SAG-AFTRA, IAHV, Aseema, and Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund).

"We are continuing to pray for everyone affected by #Covid19 and hope that everyone is doing their part to help flatten the curve!" Jonas added.

The actress shared a link to the donation page and asked fans to give money if able.

"Their kitchens and loving care change lives," she wrote.

Mars has previously performed at Vegas' The Park Theater at Park MGM.

"The people at MGM have given Bruno Mars the rare opportunity to be able to continuously gig while he's in the creative process of working on his next album," the singer's representative said in a press release.

The statement continued: "With the closures across Las Vegas, Bruno wanted to show his appreciation to the amazing employees who help make these shows possible in hopes that we'll all be out of this situation and having fun together again very soon."

Lourd, who's the daughter of late actress Carrie Fisher, revealed her donation on Instagram and wrote: "Hope everyone is staying healthy and as sane as possible. Sending my love and strength to everyone who needs it."

The fundraiser aims to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and supplies to National Health Service (NHS) workers who are facing a shortage of items needed to combat the coronavirus.

Masks for Heroes, which was created by a team of doctors, began with a target goal of raising 200,000. Thanks to McAvoy's donation and that of many others, the fundraiser has accumulated more than 1,000,000 pounds.

"Thank you so much to the NHS for everything you've done for me in my life," McAvoy said in a video shared on social media. "You've been there since the day I was born. You've saved my life in the past and, who knows, you may save my life again in the future. And I'm so glad we're trying to raise some money to help save your lives going forward."

On Instagram, Brown revealed that she and her family gave money to provide 20,000 meals to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, located in the city where the actress and her costars filmed "Stranger Things."

They also donated the same amount to The Food Depot in New Mexico, which is where the cast and crew were supposed to go to film season four of "Stranger Things."

The organization's goal is to end hunger and poverty in the UK by supporting food banks.

On Twitter, the One Direction singer revealed that he's helping more than 100 food banks in his home country.

"The priority now is helping our communities get through this tough time," the NFL star wrote on Instagram.

Brees added that they're teaming up with several local organizations to "deliver over 10,000 meals per day throughout Louisiana for as long as it takes to children on meal programs, seniors, and families in need."

Specifically, purchases of Gomez's "Dance Again"-inspired merchandise will be eligible for the fund, which was created by The Recording Academy and MusiCares.

In addition, Gomez also donated to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

"They've taken such good care of me so it's my turn to show my gratitude," the singer tweeted.

The singer also said that she's "personally donating" to the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund and $1 from every purchase from her merch site will go to the fund.

"As of this week, over a billion children are out of school worldwide because of closures linked to coronavirus," Jolie said in a press release shared by No Kid Hungry.

She continued: "Many children depend on the care and nutrition they receive during school hours, including nearly 22 million children in America who rely on food support. No Kid Hungry is making resolute efforts to reach as many of those children as possible."

"They need our help right now to be there for their clients during the coronavirus pandemic," the model wrote on her Instagram story.

Hadid went on to say that she donated money to the organization to cook meals for others. She also encouraged her followers to do the same.

McGregor shared screenshots of his private messages with Irish politician Paschal Donoho and revealed that he's personally stepping up to help those who are in need.

"Where we would be without these brave men and women, I do not know," the athlete wrote. "May God bless over them and keep them safe."

The donation was reported by "E! News" and TMZ.

Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, a physician and OB-GYN who has delivered babies for several Kardashian-Jenner members (including Jenner), reacted to the donation by sharing a lengthy message on Instagram.

"I made a wish to the Universe to gather protective masks for our brave healthcare workers and today my dream came true," Aliabadi captioned a side-by-side photo of herself, Jenner, and baby Stormi.

"One of my patients, a beautiful Living Angel just donated $1,000,000 to help us buy hundreds of thousands of masks, face shields, and other protective gear which we will have delivered directly to our first responders, as too many masks at hospitals are disappearing before making their way onto the faces of our front line heroes," she added.

The beauty mogul's skin-care company will also start making hand sanitizer "dedicated to first responders."

Dobrev said that the money will help to "secure masks and other supplies to the medical professionals on the front lines."

The star brought back "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" online to raise money for those in the entertainment industry as Broadway remains shut down. Her talk show featured appearances and performances from stars like Billy Porter, Jordan Fisher, Idina Menzel, and Neil Patrick Harris.

O'Donnell tweeted that she raised half a million dollars. Variety reported that she accumulated $600,000, included $100,000 that she contributed.

These are challenging times for everyone and nobody should be left behind," Roger said in a statement shared on Twitter.

"Our contribution is just a start," he continued. "We hope that others might join in supporting more families in need."

Swift revealed the donations on her Instagram story, telling fans to focus on "what really matters" after her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West was reignited.

"If you have the ability to, please join me in donating during this crisis," she added.

In addition, several fans who spoke about their financial issues online received private messages from the "Lover" singer, who gave them $3,000 each.

Swift also offered to pay three months of health care costs for the staff at a small business in Nashville.

The singer donated through the Shawn Mendes Foundation.

"We have been working to find ways to best support the COVID-19 crisis," Mendes said. "By making this donation to SickKids, we hope to help provide support in the urgent screening and prevention of COVID-19 for their patients and the surrounding community of Toronto."

"Now through May 1, 30% of all proceeds from online orders will benefit the US Bartender's Guild," they wrote on Instagram.

Paul and Cranston added: "We encourage all other brands to do so as well. Whatever your choice of drink, let's all raise a glass to our commitment to #flattenthecurve. Please drink responsibly with none of your closest friends...for now."

In April, the pair revealed that they would extend the offer and donate 100% of proceeds through May 5 to the Bartender's Guild, the Hospitality Industry Relief Fund, and America's Food Fund.

The Shawn Carter Foundation will support undocumented workers, the incarcerated, homeless and elderly populations, and children of frontline healthcare workers in the aforementioned cities.

"In times of crisis it is imperative that we come together as one community to ensure that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to critical needs: shelter, health, nutrition and education," Gloria Carter, Jay-Z's mother and the CEO of the foundation, said in a statement shared with the media.

In addition, the Reform Alliance, which Jay-Z and Meek Mill cofounded, donated 100,000 masks to people who are imprisoned.

A statement shared on the foundation's website stated that the money will go to "Direct Relief, Feeding America, Partners in Health, The World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, the International Rescue Committee, and others."

Specifically, the large donation will support "local food banks serving at-risk communities and the elderly in the United States" and provide resources for affected communities, among other goals.

Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, also thanked the singer for donating safety equipment to the state.

In addition, Rihanna's foundation will be teaming up with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to co-found a $4.2 million grant to help victims of domestic violence in LA as people are told to stay at home amid the pandemic.

Josephine "Mother" Wade, chairman and founder of We Women Empowered, told People that West's generosity was life-changing.

"Today when I got that call, that Kanye West wanted to help the elderly in Chicago and he chose his hometown in the Southside, his old neighborhood, I was beyond words," Wade told the publication.

With the rapper's donation, the organization will be able to continue delivering meals to elderly people who are unable to leave their homes.

According to People, the New York-based couple donated money "for the purchase of urgently needed ventilators and additionally towards Win," an organization that provides shelters and housing for families in need in NYC.

After-School All-Stars, a non-profit organization, was founded by the actor with the goal of offering after-school activities for children.

"Instead of providing after-school programs, we thought it would be cool and great if we could provide food for those families," Schwarzenegger said in a video shared on TikTok.

"TikTok came along and said, 'We are the ones that are going to donate the millions of dollars that it takes to feed those families,'" he added.

As part of the collaboration, the program will deliver groceries and gift cards for groceries to families in the US who are in need.

The "Terminator" star also donated $1 million to a GoFundMe fundraiser called Frontline Responders Fund.

"I never believed in sitting on the couch and complaining about how bad things are, I always believed we should all do our part to make things better," he wrote on Instagram. "This is a simple way to protect our real action heroes on the frontlines in our hospitals, and I'm proud to be part of it.'

"While we are doing social distancing and doing the best we can to protect one another my heart hurts for the small businesses, individuals, and families affected by all of this," Grande wrote on her Instagram story.

"I am supporting all the organizations below and if you are able to, you should too," the singer said, listing Opportunity Fund, GiveDirectly, Feeding America, Croce Rossa Italiana, and World Health Organization's COVID-19 solidarity response fund.

She also told fans on Twitter that she was "looking for ways to help ppl who don't have it as easily as i do rn."

"if any of y'all need anything, any help at all pls tell me to check DMs," Grande added.

According to TMZ, the "Imagine" singer followed through and helped fans financially by sending money through Venmo.

"I am donating 200,000 meals to @HarvestersORG in Kansas City," the actor tweeted, adding that he and girlfriend Lindsay Schweitzer "love our hometown and want to help do what we can."

He continued: "I'm only posting this to maybe motivate you to do what you can, when you can, if you can, to help vulnerable families in our community during this time."

"NKH has always been there for kids who need them," Bell captioned a post shared on Instagram. "They work tirelessly to provide food for the hungry bellies all over this country. I encourage anyone with the means to share to donate as well, any amount helps, so we can get through this together."

The actress went on to explain that her donation amount is "odd" because daughters Delta and Lincoln, who she shares with husband Dax Shepard, wanted to give money from their own piggy banks.

The Store offers free grocery year-round for people in need and was created by Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

"In light of changing times, @thestore_nashville is mobilizing delivery of a week's groceries to our elderly neighbors in Edgehill and Berry Hill on Wednesday's/Thursdays," Paisley captioned a video shared on Instagram.

Williams-Paisley also shared a video and explained that they were able to open the shop early "due to the hard work of many dedicated volunteers, partners, and donors."

In a video shared on Instagram, Wilson said that the pandemic is "changing the world second by second, minute by minute."

"People are losing loved ones," he said. "The elderly and the young. The people in between. You think about people losing jobs, even in Seattle."

The athlete continued: "What we've decided to do is partner up with our local food bank in Seattle, Seattle Food LifeLine, and we're gonna donate a million meals [and] hopefully make a difference."

Ciara also encouraged fans to do their part to help, whether it's through big or small gestures.

"My heart goes out to all the guys/girls down on Lower Broad. Feels like yesterday that it was me down there working for tips," the singer wrote before revealing his pledge.

"Right now I'm thinking about what we can do to help our most vulnerable populations - children who are losing the one meal they may rely on per day, our friends and family who are facing job issues, the elderly, and low-income families," the late-night host wrote on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of his donation receipt.

He continued: "My family made a donation to @FeedingAmerica, who are working tirelessly to feed those in need around the country... Please join us. Any donation is GIANT."

Fallon also included a shout-out to World Central Kitchen, an organization that was founded by celebrity chef José Andrés in 2010.

In addition, Fallon started a new show from his house called "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: At Home Edition," in which he performs monologues, chats wth celebrities, and highlights different charities that viewers can donate to.

The two stars revealed the news by posting a video on Instagram in March and describing the initiative as "a spot to watch your favorite celebrities read your favorite children's books."

By reading children's books, the actors are hoping it will inspire followers to donate to Save the Children and No Kid Hungry, especially as children are being impacted by school closures due to the spread of the coronavirus.

"Your donation to Save the Children and No Kid Hungry will help make sure schools and community programs have the support they need to keep feeding vulnerable children during the pandemic, as well as provide books, games and other educational materials, along with afterschool and summer programs, to help kids make up for lost time in the classroom," Garner and Adams wrote in a statement shared on the campaign's site.

The singer shared a screenshot of her receipt from the organization and wrote: "It's a crazy time out there in the world. School closures, job disruptions, lack of paid sick leave and the coronavirus' disproportionate impact on adults age 60 and older and low-income families are all contributing to the demands placed on food banks across the country."

She added: "Let's help each other out rather than freaking the f--- out. Kk?"

Hudgens also revealed on Twitter that she's "donating money to help fund the purchases of masks and other supplies for various hospitals" through BStrong.

"Every time there's a disaster I really hear from my social media followers," Frankel told radio.com. "They're all over the world, and they let me know what's going on quicker than the news for me sometimes. So a couple of people were talking about the masks."

The reality TV star and entrepreneur went on to say that she's gotten "over a thousand messages a day" regarding the lack of supplies in the US, which is why she teamed up with suppliers to produce masks.

Frankel also told the publication that the masks will be available soon and distributed to hospitals in need.

The NBA star and his wife decided to help children who are being affected by their schools temporarily shutting down, with the goal of providing more than 1 million meals for kids.

"Oakland is closing schools bc of COVID-19. We support this decision but are concerned a/b the 18,000+ kids that rely on school for 2+ meals daily. @eatlearnplay is donating to @ACCFB to ensure every child has access to the food they need. Join us & donate," Stephen captioned a video shared on Twitter.

He also encouraged fans to "practice social distancing so we can get rid of the spread of this virus as soon as possible" and "flatten the curve."

"Watching the news I couldn't imagine how scary it would be if a new disease was effecting my wife and my family and friends," the "Changes" singer wrote on Instagram.

He continued: "China we stand with you as a collective humanity and have made a donation to support. Whether it be this or the fires of Australia we all need to be there for each other. Shout out to my friend @kriswu for the conversation."

"Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families. Blake & I are donating $1 million to be split between FEEDING AMERICA and FOOD BANKS CANADA," Reynolds, who's from Canada, wrote on Twitter in March.

"If you can give, these orgs need our help," he added.

The "Deadpool" star also shared some advice for fans.

"Take care of your bodies and hearts," he said. "Leave room for joy. Call someone who's isolated and might need connection."

Lively shared a similar message on her Instagram account, encouraging people to practice social distancing while still staying connected.

Mint Mobile, a company that the actor bought an ownership stake in, is also offering free unlimited high-speed data for customers from March 15 through April 14. Reynolds shared information regarding the deal on social media and later revealed that the offer has been extended to May 14.

In addition, Reynolds revealed that Aviation Gin, the alcohol brand that he's the co-owner of, will be donating 30% of the money from every bottle sold to bartenders who are currently out of a job. The donations will take place through May 1.

According to "E! News," the couple also donated $100,000 to each of the four hospitals in New York that has faced the biggest struggles amid the pandemic.

"This is a crazy time, but remember we're all in it together. Start small and support your local communities by getting food out to those in need," the singer tweeted, explaining that the organization "is helping people assemble and deliver non-perishable food in the area.

"In times like this, it is important to be united and support however we can to help all those who are in the front lines, fighting every day to save hundreds of lives," Donatella wrote on Instagram.

The designer went on to say that she and her daughter gave money "to the intensive care department of San Raffaele hospital" located in Milan, Italy.

"This is when we, as a society, need to stand together and care for one another," she added.
