"For example, even a natural bar may contain a lot of added sugar — something you can check for yourself if you're shopping at the store."
Cassetty recommends looking for boxes that offer more healthy snacks than unhealthy ones, but beware of how "healthy" is defined. "Beef jerky shows up in several of these boxes, and while it has protein, it's also processed meat, which is strongly linked with health problems. There are also a lot of 'better-for-you' cookies and sweets, but at the end of the day, even healthier versions are still treats." She recommends mixing in these indulgences with whole foods for a more well-rounded lifestyle.
