"The Boys," Amazon Prime Video's biggest show of 2019, premiered its second season on September 4.

Based on a comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, "The Boys" depicts the darker side of the superhero genre. Billy Butcher, a former CIA operative played by "Star Trek" and "Doom" star Karl Urban, leads a group of vigilantes dedicated to exposing the world's biggest secret — that the superpowered heroes worshipped by the public are actually morally corrupt frauds working for an international corporation.

Antony Starr plays Homelander, the cruel and arrogant leader of Vought International's leading superhero team, the Seven. Season one of "The Boys" reveals just how depraved the superhero group can be, causing the deaths of innocent people without remorse, manipulating the public, and attacking their fellow teammates.

Season two sees a new hero named Stormfront challenging Homelander for leadership over the Seven and advocating for an army of one million superpowered soldiers. Meanwhile, Butcher's reason for revenge has been called into question just as the Boys have become the world's most wanted criminals.
