Sushant Singh Rajput of Kai Po Che! fame will be playing Byomkesh Bakshi, one of the super sleuths of Bengali literature. The film titled Detective Byomkesh Bakshi will be set in 1942’s war-torn Kolkata and will follow the first adventure of Byomkesh, who was then fresh out of college. The character was earlier played by Rajit Kapoor on Doordarshan’s popular TV serial and also by Bengali superstar Uttam Kumar in the award-winning film Chiriyakhana, released in 1967. The current film is slated hit the screens in February 2015.

Starring Katrina Kaif and Govinda in prominent roles, the film is directed by Abhinav Kashyap whose masterpiece Barfi! also showcased Ranbir. Rumours are rife that Ranbir is undergoing a complete image makeover for Jagga Jasoos and will be seen playing a 17-year-old boy. The film is being shot in Cape Town, South Africa, and is expected to release on May 29, 2015.
