Sushmita Sen
This former beauty queen played a no-nonsense
ACP, Malvika Chauhan, in the 2003 movie Samay:
When Time Strikes. In this film, she was a widow, with a 10-year-old
daughter to take care of. She lands herself in a triple murder case and tries
to find the connection between the three cases with the help of her assistant
played by Sushant Singh. Although this mystery tanked at the box office,
Sushmita’s portrayal of a police inspector was much appreciated.
Bipasha Basu
Fit as a fiddle, Bipasha’s Bollywood career
is marked by some powerful performances and she played a cop twice. First it
was in Gunaah (2002) and then in Dhoom 2 (2006). She didn’t get a chance
to don the uniform in Dhoom 2, but
did that in Gunaah. And the Bong
beauty looked super chic and hot in spite of playing a tough cop.
Preity Zinta
Here is one of the best portrayals of a
cop in the making. In Tanuja Chandra-directed psychological crime thriller Sangharsh, Preity played a CBI trainee,
striving to carve a niche for herself in the existing system. And her
professional struggle ran parallel to her own fight with childhood trauma and
fears.
Neetu Chandra
Neetu played a typical Haryanvi police
officer in the comedy flick, One Two
Three, and managed to look sexy, dressed in her crisp police uniform.
Although the film had its comic timing, it was great to watch Neetu’s rough
magnetism and grubby lingo. She managed to overshadow the other leading lady,
Esha Deol.
Shamita Shetty
Although her
Bollywood career doesn’t have much to talk about, this younger sister of Shilpa
Shetty is a must-mention in this list. The Mohabbatein
actress played a cop not once, but twice. We can’t forget her Lara Croft-like
look in Cash (2007). Shamita also
played a top cop in Emraan Hashmi-starrer Zeher
