This former beauty queen played a no-nonsense ACP, Malvika Chauhan, in the 2003 movie Samay: When Time Strikes. In this film, she was a widow, with a 10-year-old daughter to take care of. She lands herself in a triple murder case and tries to find the connection between the three cases with the help of her assistant played by Sushant Singh. Although this mystery tanked at the box office, Sushmita’s portrayal of a police inspector was much appreciated.

Although the film had its comic timing, it was great to watch Neetu’s rough magnetism and grubby lingo. She managed to overshadow the other leading lady, Esha Deol.
