Logistics Sector Witnesses 10-15% Rise In Demand Around The Festive Season
IndiaTransportation1 min read

The Months from August to November are by far the busiest months for the Indian transportation sector. The air sector for transportation is quite expensive in the country, hence people and companies prefer to save a penny using the land transportation facilities.

In a report by Transportation Corporation of India (TCI), the company stated that the Logistics sector witnesses a spike of 10-15% in volume during the festive season. And around these months most companies gear themselves to cater to the increased demand for logistics and supply chain services.

To overcome the extreme demand some logistics firms are sourcing vehicles from the market to meet sudden volume increase, which has also increased the freight rate by 5%. A problem faced during this time by transportation companies is of driver shortage, which can leads to stalling of vehicles and companies are not able to complete orders. This is probably the reason goods do not reach the destinations on time around these months.

According to TCI, the goods that are expected to see increased movements this season are White goods and electrical appliances, apparels, foot wears, garments, mobile handsets, pooja material and more. Major movements of goods are from North and West to all other parts of India.
The spike eases soon after Diwali and some rise is again seen in the month of December. However, that is not as big as the one seen around Diwali. This season is no different than the last, as factories and businesses are busy shipping goods all over the country and make the most of the festivities.
