Almost half of Indian IT companies will not hire from April to September 2017

An Employment Outlook Survey released by Experis IT - ManpowerGroup India has said that around 42% of Indian IT companies are not looking forward to hiring employees for the period April to September '17.
The survey adds that even though the labour market outlook is positive, there would only be a moderate growth in job opportunities for IT professionals.

The remaining 52% of companies that would hire would do so from Southern and Western regions.
Also, there is a new hiring trend that is emerging in the Indian IT sector, which is to hire temporary IT workers in case of projects that demand immediate handling. Some organisations have also decided against new hiring and instead, focus on up-skilling and re-skilling their already existing employees.

Other than this, increasing automation is also likely to have some impact on the hiring process in the sector.
"India is at the cusp of a digital transformation. With the advent of automation which is expected to impact majority of companies, employers in India state a sluggish hiring scenario. India's IT employers are cautious about their hiring plans in the April-September time frame. Today, the business leaders are creatively engaging the right talent to drive business success. Creativity, emotional intelligence and cognitive flexibility are skills that will tap human potential. Technology trends are creating a disruption in the business model and the talent also have to keep up with it," AG Rao, Group Managing Director of ManpowerGroup India told ET.
