Indian Govt wants to know how much do you shop online. Here’s why

For the first time ever, the Indian government has decided to include e-commerce in its upcoming consumer expenditure survey and will ask questions on your online shopping habits.

The nation-wide survey, which will be conducted by the National Sample Survey Organisation till June 2018, will also assess the spending patterns online, across commodities and service categories in both urban and rural areas.

As per reports, government has started to recognise the potential of online shopping as India's ecommerce sector is expected to grow rapidly by 2021.

The expenditure survey will take data from nearly 1.2 lakh households and data analysts will see whether online prices can impact inflation.
