  • The Indian Army today returned the body of a seven year old boy who had flown into Indian territory from Pakistan.
  • Aabid Sheikh, resident of Minimarg village, from Gilgit Baltistan in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) went missing on Monday.
  • On Tuesday, villagers at Achoora village, in the Gurez valley spotted a body floating down the Kishanganga river.
The Indian Army today returned the body of a seven year old boy who had flown into Indian territory after getting washed off from Pakistan, as per reports.

Aabid Sheikh, resident of Minimarg village, from Gilgit Baltistan in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) went missing on Monday, July 9. A video surfaced on the Internet where the boy’s family appealed for his safe return.

However, the boy could not survive. On Tuesday, the villagers at Achoora village, in the Gurez valley in Kashmir spotted a body floating down the Kishanganga river. They retrieved it and kept it safe in ice blocks carved out from a nearby mountain.

“I am seeing such an exchange for the first time in my life,” said Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, former MLA from Gurez.

Indian Army helped send the body of the deceased boy, across the border. “As soon as we came to know about it, we approached the Army and asked them to take up the matter with their counterparts across the border,” Shahbaz Mirza, the Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora, was quoted as saying.
