Indian Army enters Myanmar, guns down 15 militants and sends out a strong ‘don’t mess with us’ message

India on Tuesday sent a strong message it will not tolerate any attack by militants as it retaliated in full force and took down two militant camps in Myanmar.

The Indian Army’s elite special forces inflicted casualties in Myanmar in response to an attack on a convoy of 6 Dogra Regiment in Manipur on June 04.

The attack in Manipur's Chandel's district had killed 18 Indian soldiers and injured 15 others and reportedly, two militants were also killed in retaliatory fire.

On Tuesday, the Indian Army carried out the operations along the India-Myanmar international border.

It was a secretive operation and special troops from the 21 Para unit were airlifted.

It was believed that several militants, who had crossed over to Myanmar after the Manipur attack, were killed in the operation carried out on the basis of specific intelligence.

"Significant casualties have been inflicted on them. As a consequence, threats to our civilian population and security forces were averted," Major General Ranveer Singh, Additional Director General Military Operations said.

Reportedly, at least 15 militants have been killed.

Intelligence inputs with the Army had suggested that the militant strike force of 15 heavily armed guerillas had managed to reach a training camp at the Htan Ta Pin village in Myanmar close to the border town of Moreh.

As per the officials, the strike was conducted keeping Myanmar in the loop.

Meanwhile, India’s Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, said the surgically executed operation was carried out on the orders of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
