India faces a severe air pollution crisis, with some urban areas frequently ranking among the world's most polluted. Based on the real-time data of October 27, 2024 here is the list of cities with the worst air quality index (AQI).

Delhi, (AQI: 371)

The capital city consistently tops the list of the most polluted cities of India. This severely high pollution is due to a combination of emissions from vehicles, industries and seasonal stubble burning in the neighbouring states.

Rohtak, (AQI: 347)

Rohtak has been consistently facing high levels of air pollution for the past few years, primarily due to industrial zones and agricultural burning.

Another city in Haryana, Sonipat is struggling with rising air pollution resulting from vehicle emissions and industrial activities.

A district located in Rajasthan, Bhiwadi is known for its high industrial output, which is also the reason for its elevated levels of air pollution.
