Vehicles carrying liquor bottles seized in Bengal's Bankura during lockdown

Bankura, Apr 28 () The West Bengal Police hasseized seven vehicles laden with bottles of Indian madeforeign liquor (IMFL) in Bankura district, amid the ongoingnationwide lockdown and the ban on sale of alcohol, a seniorofficer said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday night at Vadulvillage after locals stopped the vehicles suspecting they weresmuggling liquor, he said.

Locals claimed 15 vehicles were ferrying liquorbottles from a warehouse of the West Bengal State BeveragesCorporation to different parts of the district, the officersaid

Though eight vehicles managed to flee, the villagersstopped the seven and informed the local police station, hesaid.
