UPSC will upload revised schedule for Civil Services Prelims exams on June 5

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced that the revised schedule of the UPSC civil services preliminary examination will be uploaded on June 5, after assessing the situation. Earlier, the prelims exams for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), as well as the Indian Forest Services (IFS) were scheduled to take place on May 31 but were deferred due to lockdown. The official statement earlier from the UPSC said the commission would release the new date today (May 20) after assessing the situation. “The Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2020, scheduled to be held on May 31, stands deferred. Decision on fresh dates of the exam will be made available on May 20, after assessing the situation.”
The development comes after the Indian government extended the Coronavirus lockdown till May 31. Over 500,000 people apply for the civil services exam in India every year.
The central recruitment agency was supposed to roll out the admit cards last week to fill out over 700 vacancies.
Earlier, the recruiting body also deferred the personality tests for Civil Services Examination 2019. The interview stage, which comprises 275 marks, is the final selection stage of selecting civil servants.

“Due to the prevailing conditions caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19), as a precautionary measure, the Personality Tests (Interviews) of the candidates of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2019 scheduled from March 23, 2020, to April 3, 2020, are deferred till further orders. New dates for the Personality Tests (Interviews) will be informed to the candidates in due course of time. ,” the official announcement said.
