The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced that the revised schedule of the UPSC civil services preliminary examination will be uploaded on June 5, after assessing the situation. Earlier, the prelims exams for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), as well as the Indian Forest Services (IFS) were scheduled to take place on May 31 but were deferred due to lockdown.

Decision on fresh dates of the exam will be made available on May 20, after assessing the situation.”

The development comes after the Indian government extended the Coronavirus lockdown till May 31. Over 500,000 people apply for the civil services exam in India every year.

Earlier, the recruiting body also deferred the personality tests for Civil Services Examination 2019. The interview stage, which comprises 275 marks, is the final selection stage of selecting civil servants.
