With the highest number of accidents, Delhi contributes to total accidents in India. The car density in Delhi is 108 cars/ km, which is 5x less than that of Mumbai, and despite this, rash driving is one of the major reasons for accidents in the Delhi NCR region, with a 20% of accident rate. Noida’s Sector 12, Gurugram Sector 17, Bharat Nagar, Sultanpuri, and Gurgaon’s Sector 45 are the top five regions of accident-prone areas in the Delhi NCR region.
With a more than 15% of accident rate, Mumbai is at the second spot in the highest number of accidents. Ghatkopar West, Mira Road, Neru, l Kandivali West, and Thane West remain the top five accidental-prone areas in Mumbai.
With cramped roads and grand buildings Kolkata’s Park Circus, Shyambazar, A C Lane, South 24 Parganas, and Sealdah remains the top five prone areas. Meanwhile, Bengaluru remains among the least accident-prone cities in the country. Interestingly enough, the bulk of accidents in Bengaluru seems to occur in a 50 km stretch spanning from Bannerghatta to Hoodi, where the infamous “Silk Board” junction lies.
With its rich heritage and the best biriyani in the country, the bulk of accidents in the Hyderabad were concentrated in the tech hub of Madhapur. Chennai’s industrial belts of Guindy is the most accidental prone area, followed by Ambattur, Poonamallee, Arumbakkam, and Koyambedu.
