These Indian states are still imposing lockdown in August to curb the spread of coronavirus

Even as the Central Government issued guidelines for ‘Unlock 3.0’, more than half the states in India are under lockdown - some staggered and some complete - as they continue their efforts to contain the spread of novel coronavirus. It is pertinent to note that the overall COVID-19 cases continue to pile up. As on July 31, India reported the highest single-day spike of 55,079 coronavirus cases and 779 deaths, pushing the overall tally beyond 16 lakhs.

As per the government tally as on July 31, Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with over 4 lakh cases. It is followed by Tamil Nadu, which has 2.39 lakh cases and then Delhi, which logged 1.34 lakh cases.
