India produces most billionaires in the world after the US and China. However, women billionaires are few and far between. As of now, 828 people own more than ₹1,000 crore wealth — and only 5% of them are women, according to Hurun’s Rich List 2020.

The richest woman in India is 69-year old Smita V Crishna, who’s the third-generation heir to the billion-dollar Godrej empire. She’s worth ₹32,400 crore — which is equivalent to 5% of what Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man is worth.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw is the second richest woman in India and has seen over 70% increase in her wealth during COVID-19.
