Site for burial or cremation of people dying of COVID-19
Ranchi, Apr 17 () The Jharkhand government onFriday informed the high court here that alternative burial orcremation sites for persons dying due to coronavirus infectionwere identified far away from populated areas.
In an affidavit filed before a division benchcomprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice SujitNarayan Prasad, the state government said the alternativeburial or cremation sites were notified at Bundu, which is farfrom populated localities of Ranchi.
Two persons have so far died of the disease inJharkhand.
The affidavit also stated that the Centre's guidelinesregarding "Dead Body Management and Bio-medical WasteManagement" arising out of COVID-19 pandemic are beingfollowed strictly and appropriate letter in this regard hasbeen issued by the state government to all the authoritiesconcerned.
The affidavit was filed after a petitioner sought toknow the steps the state government has taken for cremationand burial of bodies of persons dying of COVID-19. PVRNN NN
