A doctor at JP Hospital in Bhopal lives out of his car to keep his family safe

The ‘Gods in white,’who are at the forefront, dealing with Coronavirus patients are pulling off the unthinkable. Not only is India’s medical staff working for 14 hour shifts, they are also infected making sure they don’t spread the virus to their families.

Dr Sachin Nayak, treating Coronavirus patients at the JP Hospital in Bhopal is one such. To make sure his family stays safe, Nayak has been living out of his car after work. His family includes his wife and child.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also took to Twitter to laud the efforts of the warriors. “Sachin ji, salute your spirit,” Chouhan said.


After finishing work, Nayak directly goes to his car, which is parked near the hospital. His essentials and books have been stocked up in there. It's been a week that he is living there and interacts with his family only via video calls.

“When coronavirus cases started being reported in Bhopal, I was not so afraid but over the last few days we have seen positive cases in large numbers so I have decided to stay in the car,” Nayak told India Today.

Total infections in Bhopal, which is one of the hotspots of Coronavirus outbreak, rose to 94, as on April 9. Nine fresh cases were reported in the city in the last 24 hours.

Chouhan said that the state government has now decided to completely seal Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain to keep a check on the chain transmission of the disease.

"The district administration should ensure the supply of essential commodities in these areas. No person will be able to go in and out of these areas. Services of all government departments and their resources should be taken in for coronavirus related work," he added.
