Ratan Tata donates ₹500 crore for Covid-19 for testing kits and protective gear for health workers

  • Ratan Tata announced that the Tata Group and Tata Trusts will be donating ₹500 crore for the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The funds will be used to buy protective gear for medical professionals on the frontline, respiratory systems for the increasing number of cases, testing kits among others.
  • Tata added that the money will also be used to set up modular treatment facilities for infected patients as well as for knowledge management and training of health workers.

Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of the Tata Group announced that the group and the Tata Trusts will donate ₹500 crore for the coronavirus pandemic.

The funds will be used to buy protective gear for medical professionals on the frontline, respiratory systems for the increasing number of cases, testing kits among others.



Tata added that the money will also be used to set up modular treatment facilities for infected patients as well as for knowledge management and training of health workers.

He said, “The COVID 19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race.”

According to the latest data from Forbes, Tata is worth $291 billion.

Earlier, India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani had announced that Reliance Industries has set up the country’s first Covid-19 hospital.

Indian business conglomerate ITC had also announced that it has set up a ₹150 crore contingency fund to fight the coronavirus pandemic. “This fund will be utilised primarily to provide relief to the vulnerable and most needy sections of society who have been harshly impacted by the pandemic and have faced significant disruption in their livelihoods,” said ITC’s official statement.
