Policemen attacked by intruders from Jharkhand during lockdown

Baripada (Odisha), Apr 16 () Four police personnel wereinjured in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday as group of peoplefrom neighbouring Jharkhand attacked them after being deniedentry into Odisha in view of lockdown to contain the spread ofCovid-19, police said. Around 20 people riding motor-cycles from Jharkhand triedto forcibly enter into Odisha at Benisagar on the inter-stateborder, but they were stopped by the police personnel deployedat the entry point which has been sealed due to ongoingshutdown, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Karanjia,Narayan Nayak said. On being denied entry, the intruders turned violent andpelted stones on the policemen, the SDPO said,adding themiscreants also damaged the barricade erected on the bordergate. Four police personnel sustained injuries and they have beenadmitted to hospital at nearby Raruan, police said The miscreants fled the scene after attackingthe security personnel. With the help of Jharkhand police,two persons have beenarrested in this connection and investigation into theincident is in progress, Nayak said. COR SKNSNS SNS
