Police adopt orphanages, old age homes during COVID-19 crisis

Hyderabad, Apr 26 (): In a benevolent gesture, thethe Rachakonda Police Commissionerate here has adopted asmany as 41 old age homes, orphanages and homes for speciallyabled persons amid the ongoing lockdown.

In view of the COVID-19 crisis, inmates of the homesare being supplied with groceries and other essentials by thepolice even as different NGOs have also come forward to joinhands with them in arranging ration, medicines and safetyequipment.

Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh M Bhagwatsaid the police force decided to adopt thehomes as theymostly depend on the service of kind-hearted people insociety.

During the lockdown which restricts people to ventureout, such people were not able to serve the needy nor themanagements of the homes were in a position to step out tomanage things. The requirement of each of the homes is assessed by theSHO concerned and furnished to the Office of Commissioner ofPolice. The Citizen Volunteer Cell at Rachakonda PoliceCommissionerate is managing the procurement and distributionof food, ration and other relief material and then maps thedonors to the homes and ensures all that is necessary issupplied to them, said Bhagwat, who himself has distributedgroceries at some of these homes and personally ensuring thattheir needs are fulfilled.

Bhagwat said so far 41 orphanages, old age homes andhomes for specially abled housing nearly 1,630 inmates wereidentified and the police would meet the requirements of thehomes. Rachakonda is one of the three Police Commissioneratescovering Hyderabad and its adjoining areas. VVKNVG NVG
