One more COVID-19 death, toll at 8; 31 new cases reported

Puducherry, June 21 () Thirty-one fresh cases of COVID-19were reported in Puducherry during the last 24 hours.

A 64-year-old man from neighbouring Krimambakkam village died of the infection in JIPMER hospital on Sunday. He had been under ventilator support for nearly a week, Director of Health and Family Welfare Services S Mohan Kumar told reporters here on Sunday.

Of the 31 cases, 12 patients were admitted to the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College hospital, 18 to JIPMER and one to the Government General Hospital in Yanam, a bulletin said.

After transfer of three cases to the Tamil Nadu account, the total number of COVID-19 cases stands at 366 in the Union Territory, it said.

Till now, 140 patients had been treated and discharged from the hospitals in the Union Territory.

The number of active cases was 218 in the whole Union Territory. Of them 209 were being treated in Puducherry, eight in Karaikal and one in Yanam. COR NVG NVG
