Odisha COVID-19 survivors praise doctors, urge people to support govt

Bhubaneswar, Apr 13 () Two COVID-19 survivors, whohave been discharged from Odisha hospital, after theircomplete recovery on Monday urged people not to lose hope onthe system and follow government guidelines to defeat thecoronavirus pandemic.

The survivor duo, both Nizamuddin returnees, hailingfrom Jajpur and Puri districts, were discharged from AshwiniCOVID Hospital in Cuttack on April 10 after they showed doublenegative to the novel coronavirus.

The duo had tested positive to COVID-19 duringscreening even though they had no such flu symptoms. They wereamong the 10 persons who were declared cured on Friday anddischarged from hospital on Saturday.

"From the very beginning, I was not worried because Ihad no symptoms. I would like to thank doctors and nurses fordetecting COVID-19 in me and doing proper treatment so that Irecovered fully," said the survivor from Jajpur, who is a'Maulana', a religious preacher.

Apart from abiding the guidelines, one should developself-confidence to defeat the disease, the Jajpur survivorsaid, adding that doctors, nurses and family members boost hismental courage which helped him a lot.

He also urged fellow citizens to support the healthdepartment and district administration besides maintainingsocial distancing.

Similarly, a resident of Pipili area in Puri district,who is also a Nizamiddun returnee, said that early detectionof the virus helped him to overcome the disease. He is apostman.

"I am grateful to Allah for giving me a new lease oflife. I was under severe mental stress after getting to knowabout the COVID-19 status. However, the people around me likedoctors and nurses all along told me that I will recover andthey proved right. I must give credit to the efforts of thestate government which has made excellent arrangements forspecial treatment of coronavirus patients," he said.

He said the COVID-19 patients are being fully takencare of by the state government and provided "excellent food"including breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and dinner.

He urged all to follow the social distancing norms,wash hands frequently, stay home and obey governmentguidelines to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic .

Of the total 54 COVID-19 patients in Odisha, so far 13persons have fully recovered from coronavirus and have beendischarged from hospital. AAMRG RG
