All the new cases are reported from different parts of the state and no fresh case was found among migrants, foreign returnees and others, a state government bulletin said.
Out of the 164 fresh cases, 133 were reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, the epicentre of COVID-19 infection in the state.
The bulletin said 2,278 people have been discharged so far, while the number of active cases stood at 2,032.
Official sources said a team of senior medical officials examined all patients undergoing treatment in the state-run Gandhi hospital, where COVID-19 positive cases are treated, and reviewed their health condition.
The examination came against the backdrop of rising deaths of COVID-19 patients in the state.
Junior doctors in the Gandhi hospital, who abstained from work in protest against the attack on a doctor by kin of a deceased COVID-19 patient on Tuesday night and over their demands, including decentralisation of coronavirus patients treatment, resumed duty today after health minister E Rajenders assurance to address their grievances.
Meanwhile, a day after a driver of GHMC Mayor was found positive for the virus, the Mayor B Rammohan reportedly got tested for COVID-19 on Friday.
