Out of the 164 fresh cases, 133 were reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, the epicentre of COVID-19 infection in the state.

The bulletin said 2,278 people have been discharged so far, while the number of active cases stood at 2,032.

Official sources said a team of senior medical officials examined all patients undergoing treatment in the state-run Gandhi hospital, where COVID-19 positive cases are treated, and reviewed their health condition.

The examination came against the backdrop of rising deaths of COVID-19 patients in the state.
