Nagaland governor finds 'gaps' in state's COVID-19 protocol
The meeting attended by officials such as the chiefsecretary and the director general of police was held a dayafter a 33-year-old man from Nagaland tested positive forCOVID-19 while undergoing treatment in Assam.
Barring this man, Nagaland reported no coronaviruscase so far.
"The meeting identified the gaps and weaknesses in theexisting preventive protocols and procedures to fight thevirus in the backdrop of first COVID-19 patient reported fromthe State, while also stressing on the need to takeappropriate measures to further strengthen the existingmechanism," a Raj Bhavan statement said here.
"For an effective holistic response to thisunprecedented global crisis, the governor suggested immediatesetting up of a multi-department COVID-19 War Room under thechief secretary to closely monitor aggressive tracing,tracking and testing of suspect cases and also do the realtime stock taking of medical inventories," it said.
Ravi, however, reassured the people that the stategovernment under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Riois taking all measures to effectively tackle the COVID-19outbreak.
The governor also thanked Defence Minister RajnathSingh for responding to his request and quickly arrange forsending equipment for setting up a laboratory from Mumbai toDimapur. The Air Force plane carrying the equipment isscheduled to land in Dimapur on Wednesday.
The laboratory will enable testing of suspectedCovid-19 samples in the state instead of sending them to Assamand Manipur. NBSNN NN
