Indian e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart and even payment gateways seem to be expecting a bumper sales season. All these companies are on a gig worker hiring spree, says a report by Taskmo Gig Index.

Both Amazon and Flipkart have sales on the horizon – Big Savings Day Sales and Prime Day Sales but they still stand second to fintech whose gig worker demand went up by 14%. The demand for ecommerce stood at 11%.

“The market has rebounded from two years of COVID-19 setback; with that, we observed a tremendous seasonal hiring demand across the industry. Specifically, around festive sales season, plenty of direct and indirect gig job opportunities are coming from multiple e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon, which are the top recruiters in the months,” said Prashant Janadri, co-founder, Taskmo.

The jobs that are most in demand in June are last-mile delivery executive roles, pickers, packers, sorters, customer support and field sales executives.

Tier 2 and 3 cities hiring the most

Most of these jobs are in tier 2 cities. Going by growth in percentage terms, only Bangalore and Delhi made it to the list while the latter stood last in the list– much behind Mysore, Shivamogga, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bhopal and more.
