Meet Sargam Koushal: Mrs World 2022 who brought back the crown to India after 21 years

India wins Mrs World 2022

Mrs. India World Sargam Koushal was crowned Mrs. World 2022, beating contestants from 63 countries. Mrs. World 2021 winner, Shaylyn Ford of the US, presented the crown at the ceremony held in Las Vegas.

India’s long wait for the crown

Koushal repeated history by bringing back the crown to India after 21 long years. India also won the Most Exotic National Costume at Mrs. World 2022.

“The long wait is over, it's after 21 years we have the CROWN back!” shared Koushal on her Instagram handle.

Last Mrs. World from India, Dr. Aditi Govitrikar, also congratulated Koushal on Instagram.

Runner-ups

Mrs. Polynesia was the first runner-up at the pageant. Mrs. Canada was the second runner-up.

Who is Sargam Koushal?

32-year-old Koushal was born and raised in Jammu and is currently residing in Mumbai. Her husband is an officer with the Indian Navy.

Career and Education

According to her Instagram posts, Koushal previously worked as a teacher in Vizag. She also holds a postgraduate degree in English Literature.

Winning Mrs. India

Earlier in June this year, she won Mrs. India World, beating 51 contestants from across the country.

Last Indian victory

Actor-model Dr. Aditi Govitrikar was the first Indian to win the title in 2001. Govitrikar, who holds a degree in psychology, has also starred in movies like De Dana Dan, Paheli and others.

India has won the title six times including both Mrs. World and Miss World. Manushi Chillar had won the Miss World title in 2017.
