Maha: Two patients die at COVID-19 hospital in Amravati

Amravati, Apr 15 () The death of two patients at aCOVID-19 hospital in Maharashtra's Amravati city on Wednesdayhas put the district administration on high alert.

Throat swabs of the deceased, who were admitted to thehospital's non-coronavirus ward, have been sent for testing,an official said.

"Two persons, who were admitted to the hospital'snon-COVID ward on Tuesday died this morning. One of thedeceased was a local, while the other man hailed fromGujarat," collector Shailesh Naval said.

The 60-year-old patient was a resident of Baba Chowkin Hyderpura here, while the 50-year-old man from Gujarat wasa truck driver staying in a government-run shelter since thelockdown, he said.

The family of the local man was placed under homequarantine and the authorities were tracking down the truckdriver's family, Naval said.

The local resident was admitted to the hospital as hesuffered from a heart ailment and was diabetic, while thetruck driver was brought to the hospital for fever, the seniorofficial said.

As many as five persons from a family have testedpositive for coronavirus in the city so far, of which oneperson succumbed to the infection. CORARU ARU
