Maha COVID-19 tally reaches 9,318, death toll rises to 400

Mumbai, Apr 29 () Maharashtra reported 729 newcoronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the state's tally to9,318, a health official said.

The state also reported 31 more deaths due to thedisease, raising the toll to 400, he said.

With this, Maharashtra COVID-19 figures are asfollows: Positive cases-9,318, deaths-400, discharged-1,388,active cases-7,530 and people tested so far-1,29,931.

Mumbai city reported an increase of 393 COVID-19 caseson Tuesday, taking its tally to 6,169. The state capitalhas reported deaths of 244 patients so far.

The Thane division, which includes Mumbai andsurrounding areas, has so far reported 7,223 cases and 263deaths.

The Pune division has so far reported 1,288 COVID-19cases and 89 deaths. Pune city has reported 1,044 cases and 76deaths till date.

The Kolhapur division, that covers Western Maharashtraand Konkan, has till now reported 48 coronavirus cases and twodeaths, followed by Nashik division where there have been 313cases and 27 deaths so far, the health official said.

The Aurangabad division in central Maharashtra hasreported 108 cases of COVID-19 along with six deaths, whileLatur division has reported 19 cases and one death so far.

There are 155 cases in Akola division and nine deathswhile there are 139 cases and one death in Nagpur division.

The number of COVID-19 patients from other states whoare receiving treatment in Maharashtra is 25 while two havesuccumbed to coronavirus infection, the official said.

Though the state reported 31 deaths on Tuesday, thehealth official maintained that some of the deaths took placebetween April 20 and 27, but were cumulatively mentioned inTuesday's report.

Four deaths in Jalgaon took place in the last fourdays, the official said.

"Out of 31 latest deaths in the state, 25 werereported from Mumbai city, four from Jalgaon and two from Punecity," he said.

Besides, 1,388 patients were discharged from hospitalsafter recovery.

The official also informed that 1,55,170 people wereplaced in home quarantine and 9,917 in institutionalquarantine.

There are 664 active containment zones in the state,he said, adding that 9,361 official squads have so farcompleted surveillance of 38.30 lakh people. ND KRKGK GK
