Liquor in Rajasthan set to get more expensive as the government increases surcharge from ₹1.5 to ₹30

Jaipur, Battling a fierce financial crisis amid the COVID-19 epidemic, the Rajasthan government on Tuesday imposed surcharge on all kinds of liquor to fill in the government treasury.
A total of Rs 5 surcharge has been levied on breezer, while Rs 20 surcharge on a 650 ml of beer bottle.
In fact, the surcharge has been increased on all types of liquor from Rs 1.5 to Rs 30, said the order released by finance department on Tuesday.
The order has been taken in exercise of the powers conferred by section 28-A of the Rajasthan Excise Act, 1950 (Act No. II of 1950), where surcharge can be charged on all kinds of liquors for the purpose of mitigating natural or man-made calamities like drought, flood, epidemic, public health exigencies, fire etc namely.
A 750 ml of BIO has gone up by Rs 30 with new surcharge, the order added.
