The government is considering lockdown relaxationafter April 21, and the state cabinet that is scheduled tomeet on Monday is likely to discuss this, sources said.
Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar in his capacity asChairman, State Executive Committee, has issued directions toall departments, district Deputy Commissioners, Superintendentof Police and other Heads of Departments that they shallcontinue to implement the measures presently in force in thestate to contain the spread of COVID-19, till the midnight ofApril 21, the order said.
Noting that the Union Home Ministry on April 14 hadissued directions to states that lockdown measures willcontinue to remain in force upto May 3, it said, the Ministrywith an intention of mitigating hardship of the public hasallowed select additional activities from April 20, as per theguidelines.
Hours after announcing that two-wheelers will beallowed to ply on roads and IT/BT companies can resumeoperations with 33 per cent strength after April 20, KarnatakaChief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Saturday had rolled themback, citing public opinion as the reason.
However, the decisions announced by Yediyurappa aftera meeting of senior ministers on Saturday, which remainunchanged so far include- identifying containment zones andthe activities to be permitted in non-containment zones.
Also, appointing incident commander to eachcontainment zone and giving them magisterial power; 33 percent workforce of Government Departments will be allowed towork and they should come in contract buses, that would behired exclusively for them; prohibitary orders will becontinued till May 3; Malls, showrooms will remain closed.KSU SS
