Kollam (Ker), Apr 16 () A man carried his 89-year oldailing father on his shoulder and walked under the blazing sunfor nearly one kilo meter to their home after police allegedlystopped their autorickshaw citing lockdown restrictions inPunalur town in this south Kerala district.

A video has gone viral on social media showing the mancarrying his hefty, bare-chested father who wasdischargedfrom a government hospital after treatment for urinaryinfection on Wednesday, prompting the state Human Rights panelto register a case on its own.

Kollam Superintendent of Police (Rural) Hari Sankar hasordered a probe by a senior officer into the incident, policesaid, adding they did not possess necessary document for theirtravel as required during the lockdown.

Roymon, a native of Kulathupuzha, had to face the allegedordeal while bringing back his father P G George from thehospital.

Later talking to local TV channels, the man alleged thepolice stopped the vehicle about a kilo meter away from hishouse and didn't let them proceed further even after showingthe hospital documents.

As the incident drew condemnation, the state Human RightsCommission initiated a case on its own and asked districtpolice chief to submit a report, officials said. LGK UDVS VS
