Karnataka govt sets up GoMs for lockdown measures

Bengaluru, Apr 15 () Karnataka Chief Minister B SYediyurappa on Wednesday constituted four Groups of Ministers(GoMs) aimed at implementing extended COVID-19 lockdown andensuring smooth supply of essentials.

The decision was taken at a meeting Yediyurappa had withtop ministers and each group has been tasked with specifiedresponsibilities such as strengthening the supply chain ofessentials and addressing requirements of farmers and migrantworkers, Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan told . "The discussion was regarding maintaining the essentialsupplies... also regarding migrant workers and supplies tothem including ration was discussed during the meeting...groups of Ministers have been tasked with certainresponsibilities," Narayan, who was part of the meeting, said. Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar saidthe meeting also discussed containment measures to check thespread of coronavirus and meeting the requirements of farmersin view of agricultural activities commencing.

Ashwath Narayn would be in charge of maintaining theessential supplies chain in coordination with Food and CivilSupplies Minister K Gopaliah, Horticulture Minister K NarayanaGowda, Cooperation Minister S T Somashekar and AgricultureMinister B C Patil.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumarwill be focusing on migrant workers in coordination withLabour Minister A Shivaram Hebbar.

Revenue Minister R Ashoka has been tasked withdistribution of ration and supplies in Bengaluru, along withGopaliah.

Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai headed team would lookafter law and order and facilitating the movement of vehiclesduring the national lockdown which has been extended till May3. KSUVS VS
