Ivanka Trump won the hearts of Indians as soon as she stepped out of the plane in a viscose georgette powder blue mini dress. As if that adulaton was not enough, on her second day in India, she chose an Indian look. Ivanka wore a bandhgala sherwani designed by Anita Dongre, made of handwoven silk from Murshidabad West Bengal. According to Dongre’s website, the dress is worth ₹82,400. She paired the sherwani with straight fitted pants and paired them with traditional Polki earrings.
“It is timeless, and such a classic. We created this style twenty years ago and it’s amazing to see how beautifully relevant it is even today. A powerful, standout silhouette, a sherwani carries the same charisma in absolutely any colour but my personal favourites are the evergreen blue, white and black,” Anita Dongre told the media.
Dongre also commented on Ivanka’s Instagram post. “Enjoy your trip to our beautiful country. You look lovely,” Dongre wished her.”

Moreover, this comes after Melania Trump’s designer outfit from the couture house — Atelier Caito from Herve Pierre featured an ancient Indian textile: the green belt. Melania’s outfit also became a trending topic on Twitter for Indians who compared it to a karate costume.
