  • India’s recovery rate has also increased to 27.5% from 26% as on April 30, according to Health Ministry.

For the first time since the outbreak, India’s COVID-19 cases are doubling every 12 days, according to Lav Aggarwal, spokesperson, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This is a huge improvement as before lockdown began coronavirus cases were doubling every 3.2 days as on March 24.

The coronavirus cases went from 500 to 1,000 in five days and then took another four days to breach 2,000. Moreover, it took three days more to double the number of cases to 4,000. As of April 30 coronavirus cases were doubling every 11 days.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on May 3 said the growth of new COVID-19 cases have been steadying for a while and the recovery rate is improving — showing India is on the path of success.

And this is not the only improvement India witnessed. According to Health Ministry, India’s recovery rate has also increased to 27.5% from 26% as on April 30. As many as 1074 people — the highest so far — have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours (between May 3 and May 4).

There are 29,453 active cases of coronavirus in India.
