The portal was launched by Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal, called Rail Drishti. It brings key details from various stations on a single platform, which aims to promote transparency and accountability. The portal is easily accessible through any digital device which supports the internet. It offers information in 15 different categories and makes it easier from the user to track out all queries related to Indian Railways on the same platform.

The section monitoring listed on the Rail Drishti website allows you to direct to Indian Railways kitchen Live, where 27 sub-folder with different stations are listed. Each station listed on the website has two sub-sections, namely ‘cooking area’, and ‘packing area.’

The service section on Rail Drishti offers to help passengers with queries about Passenger Name Record (PNR), Freight Numeric Record (FNR) and file complaints related to Indian Railways. It also allows passengers to book train tickets, enquire about rail reservation and over-dimensional consignment (ODC) approval.

The monitoring section on the website not only allows passengers to track down their food preparation in the Indian Railways kitchen. It also has a sub-section that allows monitoring of consumer grievances, bills and e-procurement service.
