India ranks among top 50 countries in innovation

India stands at rank 46 in the overall rankings, as per the latest edition of the Global Innovation Index.

The country has seen consistent rise since 2015 (81st position). However, it stands in second position among lower-middle income countries.

Switzerland

Switzerland remains the world’s leader in innovation for the 11th consecutive year. According to media reports, many companies and organisations in the country remained unaffected even during the pandemic.

Sweden

Sweden continues to remain in the top three positions for over a decade now. The country is also ranked among the top economies in 2021.

United States of America

The US remains at the third position as last year. The country leads in key metrics such as patents by origin, the quality of its universities and the impact of its scientific publications and in research and development (R&D) intensive global companies.

The UK has been ranked at fourth place for the past three years now. The country leads in the quality of its universities and the impact of its scientific publications.

Republic of Korea

The Republic of Korea went up (10th rank in 2020) notably in innovation and in indicators trademarks, global brand value, and cultural and creative services exports.

The Netherlands has also been named as one of the most equipped countries to come up with innovative solutions to tackle the COVID-19.

Finland has the most highly performing institutions in the region and leads worldwide in rule of law.

The country also ranked second in the list of most innovative economies in SouthEast Asia, East Asia and Oceania region and among the list of world innovation leaders.
