Among the two solar eclipses marked on the 2022 calendar, the first occurred on April 30. The second and the last solar eclipse of the year will occur on Tuesday, October 25. Both these eclipses are partial ones.

The solar eclipse occurring on October 25 will start very late in the evening. Therefore, it can be seen in India only for a few minutes just before the sunset. Though the upcoming solar eclipse can be viewed from all parts of India, the visibility of the eclipse will vary between different regions of India.

Solar eclipses are highly interesting sights to watch due to their rarity and the uniqueness of every eclipse. While there is no harm in viewing a lunar eclipse from the earth, you must take extreme care and the necessary precautions if you wish to enjoy the fascinating views of a solar eclipse.

Never try to view a solar eclipse with naked eyes even for a very short duration. Any effort to do so might cause severe damage to eyesight, including permanent blindness. According to experts, this can happen even during the maximum phase of the solar eclipse when the majority of the sun is hidden from view.

There are a few safe ways to watch the solar eclipse. Use a light filter like black polymer, aluminized Mylar or welding glass of shade number 14. Alternatively, you can also project the sun’s image on a whiteboard using a telescope.
