Four new COVID-19 cases reported from Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 18 () Four new cases ofCOVID-19 were reported on Saturday in Kerala taking the tallyin the state to 399, the health department said.

Health Minister K K Shailaja said three of the newcases are from Kannur district and one from Kozhikode.

Three out of the four came to the state from Dubaiand one was infected with the coronavirus througha contact,she said.

Two people who were cured today are from Kasaragoddistrict.

As of now, 257 people were cured of the virus and 140are under treatment in various hospitals across the state,Shailaja said in a release.

At least 67,190 are under observation in the statewhile 504 are in isolation wards at various hospitals.

The state has till now sent 18,774 samples fortesting.

Palakkad has the highest number of people underobservation--10,417, the release said.

As per a medical bulletin, Kannur, with 50 COVID-19cases, took the lead in the state from Kasaragod, which has 49cases.

Kasaragod was leading with the most number of casesin Kerala.

An 85-year-old COVID-19 patient, who was declaredcured and was under treatment for kidney and heart relatedailments, died early this morning at a government hospital inMalappuram this morning.

Shailaja said the patient had been suffering fromold age problems besides heart and kidney ailments.

All three results of his samples had returnednegative, the minister told reporters here. RRT BNWELCOME BNWELCOME
