Don't try this at home! Chandigarh man cooks up ‘diesel paratha’, goes viral for all the wrong reasons

India is home to some of the world’s most delicious food, but it’s also where cardiovascular disease is sometimes served on a platter in the form of excessively buttery and cheesy omelettes and parathas by street vendors. Surely, you must have seen that video of the man casually dropping a huge brick of butter onto the tava? But the new video that is making rounds on the internet is going to make even this look healthy in comparison!

A video circulating online shows a street vendor preparing a dish he calls a "Diesel Paratha," sending shivers down the spines of viewers everywhere.

The clip features a man named Bablu dousing a paratha on a hot pan with what appears to be a can of diesel. Smoke billows up as the flammable liquid sizzles, leaving the unsuspecting flatbread looking more like a charcoal briquette than a tasty breakfast staple.

Despite the, shall we say, questionable culinary technique, Bablu proudly boasts about his creation, even going so far as to say, "If you don't like the taste, complain about it at the police station!"

Needless to say, the internet is not buying it. Netizens are understandably concerned, not just about the health risks of consuming diesel (which can even be fatal), but also about the sheer danger of using such a volatile liquid near an open flame. Comments flooded the video, with many calling for food safety authorities to investigate and take action against this reckless "chef."

Some viewers expressed doubt about the authenticity of the video, suggesting the liquid might be something less hazardous than diesel, perhaps heavily used cooking oil. However, even reused oil poses serious health risks if consumed.

While the video is likely a publicity stunt gone wrong, it serves as a stark reminder of the bizarre (and potentially dangerous) content that can go viral online. So, the next time you see a food trend that seems too outlandish to be true, trust your gut — and avoid it at all costs!
