• Indigo, in a statement, said the ticket amount of passengers who booked a flight between this period is protected in the form of a credit shell in the PNR.
  
• Indian Railways also decided to extend the cancellation of passenger train services till the lockdown period.
  
  

All the domestic and international flight services will remain suspended until May 3, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said. This comes after PM Modi extended the lockdown until May 3.

“It has been decided that all scheduled international commercial passenger services shall remain closed till 1830 hrs GMT of May 3rd, 2020. However, this restriction will not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by DGCA,” Director General of Civil Aviation said in a statement.


Indigo, in a statement, said the ticket amount of passengers who booked flights in this period is protected in the form of a credit shell in the PNR. The credit shell will be shared with passengers in 5-7 days and can be utilised in a year.

The Indian Railways also decided to extend the cancellation of passenger train services as per the new lockdown date.

Higher fare

Once the lockdown is lifted, airfares are likely to cost three times the pre-lockdown period, according to Times of India. The DGCA is working on a plan to resume flights while practicing social distancing after government permits movement.

Airlines may operate with only one-third occupancy with one passenger sitting in a row of three seats. The next passenger will then be sitting in a diametrically opposite seat. For instance, if one passenger is sitting in a window seat then the other passenger will be asked to sit at the aisle seat and so on.
