- Delhi government has imposed
additional restrictions for movement of people in the state as Omicron cases have been rising. - Delhi has recorded 331 new covid-19 cases on a single day on Monday, December 27.
- Since the covid-19 positivity rate went above 0.5% for over two days, the national capital has enforced ‘yellow alert’ under graded response action plan (GRAP).
Following this, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has imposed a level-I (Yellow alert) under graded response action plan (GRAP) in the national capital. Theoretically, yellow alert kicks in when the positivity rate of the virus crosses 0.5% for two consecutive days.
The GRAP are based on the positivity rate, new Covid cases as well as the availability of oxygen beds. There are four levels to this, namely yellow, amber, orange and red.

- Schools and colleges will be closed
- Shop of non-essential items will open on alternate days
- Seating capacity trimmed by half in metro trains and public transport buses among others
- Cinema halls and gyms to stay close
- Malls to stay open from 10am to 8pm on an odd-even basis
Kejriwal reportedly said that Delhi is 10 times more prepared than earlier to deal with the rising cases of Covid-19. However, the new cases of the Omicron Covid variant are mild and do not usually require use of ventilators or oxygen cylinders, he said.
