Delhi delays distribution of pulses to the needy over quality issues

Just a day before the Delhi government was to start distribution of pulses under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), the food department on Tuesday decided to postpone the distribution citing quality issues.

In an order, the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Delhi government said that the quality issue has been taken up with the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED).


"The issue related to quality check of pulses supplied under the PM-GKAY has been taken up by the department with NAFED. Accordingly, it has been decided to postpone the distribution of pulses under the scheme for April, 2020 scheduled to be started from April 29, till resolution of the issue," the order signed by the Special Commissioner said.

The government was to distribute pulses from Wednesday.
