COVID-19 patient dies, tests of two deceased come out positive

Pune, Apr 5 () A COVID-19 patient succumbed here inMaharashtra on Sunday while samples of two persons who diedearlier also came out coronavirus positive, officials said.

A 69-year-old woman, who tested positive forcoronavirus on April 2 and was also suffering from a gallbladder ailment died at the district hospital, civil surgeonDr Ashok Nandapurkar said.

"The woman was admitted to hospital on March 30. Shewas diagnosed with a gall bladder infection and stone (acutecalculous cholecystitis). She underwentsurgery at thehospital on March 31," he said.

On April 1, after she complained of breathlessness,her samples were sent for testing and the results came outpositive for coronavirus on April 2, he said.

"The patient was sent to the district hospital inAundh area. Since admission, the patient was unstable due toher surgery. She died here in the hospital on Sunday," hesaid, adding that the woman was also suffering from obesity.

Besides, samples a 60-year-old woman who died onSaturday tested positive for coronavirus, SassoonHospital's Dean Dr Ajay Chandanwale said.

The woman, who had some co-morbid conditions, wasrecently discharged from Pune's Naidu hospital after shetested negative for coronavirus there.

"Early Saturday morning, the woman was brought to theSassoon Hospital where she was declared brought dead. Afterrealising that she had gone to Naidu Hospital where she testednegative for coronavirus, we took fresh samples and sent themfor tests which came out positive," Dr Chandanwale said.

He said a 52-year-old man who was admitted to theSassoon Hospital also died on Saturday.

"His samples were sent for testing. The results cameout positive late Saturday evening. He was suffering fromdiabetes and hypertension," the official said. SPKGK GK
