COVID-19: 22 new cases confirmed in K'taka; total infections rises to 557

Bengaluru, Apr 30 () Twenty-two new cases ofcoronavirus have been confirmed in Karnataka, taking the totalnumber of infections in the state to 557, the Healthdepartment said on Thursday.

"Twenty-two new positive cases have been reported fromlast evening to this noon...Till date 557 COVID-19 positivecases have been confirmed. This includes 21 deaths and 223discharges," the department said in its mid-day situationreport.

Among 22 new cases, 14 are from Belagavi, three fromBengaluru urban, two from Vijayapura, and one each fromDavangere, Dakshina Kannada and Tumakur.

Out of 22, eight are contacts of patients alreadytested positive, ten are secondary contacts, two had contactwith containment zone BBMP Ward-135, and the other two arewith history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).KSU SS
