38 year old from Bihar is India’s youngest victim

A 38 year old man from Bihar passed away on Sunday (March 22) making him the state’s first victim. He hails from Munger district and was admitted to Patna-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Friday for kidney ailments after returning from Qatar.

During dialysis, doctors noticed that he was suffering from severe respiratory issues, following which his swab samples were sent for medical examination, revealing the condition.

In Delhi, a 68-year-old woman died on March 13. The death was caused due to comorbidity caused by diabetes and hypertension, the officials from the health ministry said. The woman's son recently returned from Europe, and tested positive for the virus.

The first victim in Maharashtra was a 64-year-old man with a history in Dubai. He passed away in Mumbai at Hinduja Hospital on March 17.

The second victim was a 63-year-old man who also died in Mumbai. The health ministry said that the patient had a chronic history of diabetes, high blood pressure and ischemic heart disease. He also developed acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to Coronavirus leading to death.

A 57-year-old resident of Dum Dum, Kolkata died on March 23 in Kolkata. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed the death during an all-party meeting. She said the patient had a travel history to Italy and that his family lives there.
