Added to that, five doctors from the Hamidia Hospital and Sultaniya Janana Hospital tested positive in Bhopal on April 25.

Shortage of doctors affects Coronavirus screening

After five doctors tested positive for Coronavirus in Bhopal, over 90 doctors, 30 nurses and 20 ward boys of the Gandhi Medical College were quarantined on April 25. This has resulted in a shortage of doctors and nursing staff, affecting the screening.

As per a report, the number of patients being tested for Coronavirus at the hospital decreased to 10% when compared to normal days.

Lack of PPEs to be blamed?

The Madhya Pradesh officials have claimed that the state is manufacturing 12,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits per day and that there is a surplus stock of PPE kits in the state.

However, as per an earlier report, there was a shortage of the kits. This could be one of the many reasons why infections amongst doctors are high. A lot of factors affect infections amongst healthcare workers the most being the fact that they interact with hundreds of people on a daily basis.

It’s not just the doctors

Earlier this month, 34 police personnel tested positive for Coronavirus in Bhopal. An official claimed that the police personnel were infected during their search for the Tablighi Jamaat members. Four IAS officers also tested positive for Coronavirus in Bhopal.
