Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the early 15th century. In the 21st century the city has seen strong urban and cultural development. It is the cultural, economic and government centre of Denmark.

It is the most populous city in Canada. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance and arts and also recognised as one of the multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.

In 1967, the Singapore Government introduced the vision of making Singapore a "garden city" and the city is also well known for the 161-year old tropical garden, Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also a major international transport hub in Asia serving some of the busiest sea and air trade routes.

Despite being one of the most expensive cities in the world, Sydney frequently ranks in the top ten most livable cities. Sydney also has one of the world’s oldest libraries, the State Library of New South established in 1826.

The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is also the political and economic centre of Japan.

Amsterdam is usually referred to as the “Venice of the North” as it has a large number of canals. It is also one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

It is the capital city of New Zealand and is located between the Cook Strait and the Rimutaka Range. This has been the nation’s capital since 1865 and most of the public services and government operations are based in the city.

Hong Kong is also one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Its MassTransit Railway (MTR) is an extensive passenger rail network connecting 93 metro stations.

This metropolitan area is also known as Greater Melbourne as it comprises 31 local municipalities. Melbourne is also consistently ranked as the world’s most liveable city for much of the 2010s.

The city stretches across fourteen islands. In 2019 Stockholm was awarded the World Smart City award for its leadership of the European Smart Cities and Communities project.

Indian cities Delhi and Mumbai have made it to the safest city list. Delhi in the 48th rank and Mumbai secured the 50th position.

The study was conducted by the EIU by listing the names of 60 cities based on 76 indicators. The indicators include personal, infrastructure, health and environmental security.
